I just did the crucible DLC 100%, did the wave 1 to 100 in one sitting, fought the secret boss and boy did this game piss me the f*** off. My main gripes with this game are combat related, for context I'm playing on challenging and am at the end game, I have to kill Pride and Envy and I'm done. It'll be in the options menu when you start the game. I highly recommend it.Įdit: Also, there is a "classic" mode that makes the combat similar to past games if you still don't like it.

Especially when you surprise yourself by taking down an entire mob of tough enemies or even a boss without losing health. I mean it when I say that the second you become accustomed to the combat and learn when to dodge, the game becomes several times more fun and satisfying. Be warned that you will be frustrated with the combat at first. The 7 deadly sins are great antagonists and bosses, and the art design is wonderful as always. I think it compares well to Darksiders 1 and 2. Gunfire Games developed Darksiders 3 while THQ Nordic financed and published it. After THQ went bankrupt and Vigil Games closed down, some developers moved on while many others formed Gunfire games. The game was made by the majority of the same developers. They'll stay there until you're able to get them back. However, if you die again, you don't lose those original souls forever. You also lose your souls and have to get them back from the last place you died at and enemies respawn. You have spawn checkpoints at Vulgrim locations, and every time you die, you respawn next to the last Vulgrim location you visited. It's fairer to say that the game takes some ideas from dark souls, but makes them more accessible and faster paced. Just get used to not always pulling off a complete combo when fighting a mob of enemies. However It's not hard to create distance, put enemies in a line, and deal damage with time. You'll here complaints that Darksiders 3 was built for one on one encounters for this reason, and that makes fights against mobs of enemies more difficult and unfair. You have to be ready for when an attack is coming so you can do a perfect dodge and follow up with a combo. The game demands a lot more of the players attention and reaction time than the other games did. The game relies on dodging and counter attacking more than the other Darksiders games yes, but that's end of the similarities with dark souls in terms of combat. The dark souls comparisons aren't entirely accurate, but they are justified in some cases.

  • DS3 offered a new fighting style with more developed scenery and a change in direction of the story from how War was affected to what humanity is doing.
  • DS2 offers the biggest story and most intricate character development.
  • DS1 Told the best story that made us want more.
  • The biggest issue most people had with DS3 relates to programming. In DS3 you were vulnerable and had to fight with strategy.Īll three of the mainline games have their strengths and seemed to evolve the game play for the good in my opinion. With War and Death they were so strong there was little need for dodging or much strategy. The game play fighting style was different but I thought it was good and more realistic. The environments were well made and detailed. The story added some new depth with the human and horseman relationship.

I have to say I really liked DS3 AFTER all or most of the bugs were worked out. My personal favorite will always be Darksiders 2 because of it's music, beautiful areas, fun abilities, awesome combat, crazy bosses, and of course Death himself. Now, those issues are gone, but the reviews stay the same. Not all of the reviews for the game are that great, but they were spot on about the technical issues that were prevalent on release. I honestly think that reviews that judge a game on release and then never change after the game has been patched is a very flawed system. Fury is great, the artstyle is great, the bosses are great, the combat is satisfying.

The second I understood how to effectively combat enemies, the game became 100x more fun. So,while every game has different gameplay and combat, Darksiders 3 is the most different. She can't overpower enemies like her brothers can. It fits in with the narrative of Fury being the weakest of the horsemen. Darksiders 3 relies more on counter attacks and hollow abilities. The rest of the games had a rather straight forward hack n slash combat that people have associated with series. The main thing that threw several people off was the combat. I love the game, but I think it is fair to say that it's the most divisive game in the series. The game did have several technical issues on release, but they have since been patched.
